Richard Dixon Memorial Scholarship In recognition of services to the alpaca industry by the late Dr Richard Dixon, the Australian Alpaca Association Ltd. has established the Richard Dixon Memorial Scholarship Fund. [more info] [application form]

The successful applicant for the 2009 Scholarship is Alexandria Brandon Mullette from Queensland.

Alex hopes to utilise her scholarship grant to attend a veterinary course or conference on camelid medicine and surgery in the USA, at either Washington State University or the jointly run course through the University of Massachusetts and Cornell University.

Rural Training Units in Alpaca Management

The New South Wales Richmond TAFE has available on application, a Nationally Accredited Training Package suitable for those who wish to attain a CERT 11 in Agriculture which specializes in Alpaca. 

The course has elective units which are all relevant to alpacas and on successful completion of the course the participant will be awarded a Cert 11 in Agriculture, Specialising in Alpaca. Land Transport Standards

The documents listed below in respect of proposed Land Transport Standards represent the final editions going forward to Government Standing Committee on Primary Industries (PISC). If as hoped, they are approved, then drafting instructions will be created for each State, Territory and Commonwealth Parliaments to enact.

Across-herd Genetic Evaluation Project For 2008-09 the AAA Board has decided to offer all AAA members FREE data entries for AGE to encourage accelerated stud breeding improvement. This enables members to participate in AGE without any additional costs.

Alpaca breeders can obtain a major increase in their herd's genetic improvement by using their animals' genetic performance values for recorded traits to assist them to make breeding selections.
